Helga has a background in cell biology, molecular biology and protein biochemistry. For her PhD at the University of Heidelberg and the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona (IBMB) she studied protein complex formation driving endocytosis. She then moved to the University of Lübeck as a postdoctoral research fellow, where she analysed protein interactions involved in androgen-dependent transcription.
Before moving to Veraxa, Helga worked as scientific officer and laboratory manager at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) with a strong focus on protein engineering and protein purification.
